Why I Love Persona 4 Arena’s Labrys

Why I Love Persona 4 Arena’s Labrys
Date Published: 17 September, 2018

Despite not technically being a legacy character in the Persona universe, Labrys’ debut to the series is quite the memorable one. On the surface, Labrys is perhaps looked at as “Just another android in a school uniform”. However, as the main focus of the original Persona 4 Arena, Labrys proved she is no ordinary robot-girl.

Although she makes it clear she abides by many rules that include decency, respect, and of-course, righteousness. Two things are for certain when it comes to Labrys, she does not tolerate anyone who hurts her friends, and her strong character stacks up to just about anyone’s. The MacSplicer Podcast #44 – A Potentially Dangerous Time for the FGC

This week’s podcast has a bit of a different tone as I express my concern for where the fighting game community is possibly heading if the games that comprise it continue to go down the path of sacrificing depth for accommodating newer players.

Topics on this week’s show include:

  • Sacrificing depth in fighting games and its potential consequences

The State of the FGC in 2018

The State of the FGC in 2018
Date Published On: June 14, 2018

After what could be described as one of the most interesting years in the Fighting Game Community (FGC), 2017 not only delivered great moments and growth, but in hindsight also laid the groundwork for what the FGC in 2018 and beyond may turn into.

Similar to any longtime passionate community or organization, a changing of the guard is an inevitable element that happens, and while the FGC is not known for taking a unanimous count of votes, the sense of change certainly was present in 2017, and the road that the FGC is on in 2018, only further confirmed that same perception. The MacSplicer Podcast #26 – Slow Days in the FGC

Not much to talk about with regards to fighting game news, or any events of interest. So I ramble for 8 minutes how much I don’t like the fact that I have nothing to talk about.

Topics on this week’s show include:

  • Uneventful days in the FGC
  • Future projects I’m currently working on

The Future of the Persona 4 Arena Series

The Future of the Persona 4 Arena Series
Date Published: 15 November, 2017

It has been over three years since the western release of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax (P4U2)—the second title in the Persona 4 Arena series, and one which has seen little developer support post launch, aside from an update that only reached Japanese arcades in January of 2015.

That same update, while it reinvigorated the game within the Japanese arcade community, was a major factor in the demise of not only the game’s western community; who never received the update, but also played a hand in the rapid decline of high level Japanese players the game was once full of. The MacSplicer Podcast #21 – BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle

I decided to take a break midway through working on The FGC Divide and came up with a podcast, no idle time wasted! It occurred to me that I never spoke about the new BBCTB game that is due out next year, henceforth the podcast was a perfect opportunity to do so.

Topics on this week’s show include:

  • Current thoughts on BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle
