Discovering Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code
Published On: March 13, 2017
Let’s be honest, anime implemented in anything is sure to be pretty interesting if not totally awesome in the process, well the same holds true with Melty Blood; an older fighting game series, but new to my fighting game collection.
I started seeing more and more of Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code or MBAACC on multiple occasions when either browsing YouTube or tuning into some fighting game stream on Twitch. At first I somewhat dismissed the game as being an older game that people were just playing for good old times, however, upon taking a closer look, I could tell that this game was legit.
Seeing the community the game still possess, I figured I had to give it a try since I was already enjoying my time as a spectator, why not get in on the fun as a player? Wise decision. MBAACC turned out to be even more fun to play as it was to watch.
Playing the game for a short time, the feeling I got was somewhat akin to video game comfort food, despite never having played the games in the franchise prior to MBAACC, from a fighting game player’s perspective, playing the game already felt natural to me.
MBAACC has a few things going right for it, the first and perhaps most important is its beginner friendliness. As someone who considers himself as being quite the slow learner when it comes to learning new fighting games, I can attest that MBAACC makes things simple without the need to hold your hand.
The learning curve for the game is quite easy and there are two factors that make that possible. The first is that execution is not much a problem, traditional circle motions are in play, and there aren’t too many links that cause issues in regards to combinations. Secondly, the game features universal commands for most of the characters on the roster, meaning that learning new moves is not something you run into very often.
Certainly, at higher levels of competition, the defensive meta, diagonal and vertical mobility, optimal confirmations, meter management, and many other factors come into play that elevate the competitive experience of the game, however at a rudimentary level, the game opens itself up to be enjoyed from the very start.
Lastly, Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code does not only feature a very long title, it strikes an impressive balance of beginner friendliness and competitive edge. Coupled with endearing old-school anime art, characters from practically all walks of life, a solid soundtrack, and flexibility in regards to gameplay, MBAACC is a fighting game I highly recommend from both fighting game veterans and casual button mashers.
